Musical Monday

Good morning year 6! Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

I listened to a lot of music over the weekend. This made me think about how amazing music is, and how it influences our mood!

However you are feeling there is a song, or piece of music, that can represent that emotion. Music has a magical way of lifting you up and making you smile as well as bringing people together.

There is so many different genres of musics, different artists or bands.

what is your favourite song or piece of music? Do you have a favourite artist or band?

What song would represent how you are feeling today?

I would choose ‘can’t stop the feeling’ by Justin Timberlake. This song always makes me smile and is just such an upbeat, happy song. I am so excited that our isolation ends today and we can all return to school tomorrow.

Don’t forget our P.E day has changed to a Wednesday, so full school uniform tomorrow!!

Cant wait to see you all in class tomorrow morning!

Have a lovely day, from the year 6 team xx

fröhlichen Freitag!! Happy Friday!!

Guten Morgen! That means good morning in German.
Today we would have been wearing the colours that represent the German flag in school.
So today i thought it would be fun to share some interesting facts about Germany.

Did you know the Christmas tree tradition came from Germany?

Donaudampfschifffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft
is the longest word to be published. It is 79 letters long.
It means the Danube Steamship Electricity maintenance building.

The first printed book was in German.

The history of the German national football team began in 1908, when Germany played
its first international match.
Since then, the German national football team has been one of the most
successful football teams, winning four World Cups and three European Championships.

What fun things have you learnt about Germany?

Haben Sie einen guten tag (have a good day)

On this day in history!

Good morning year 6, how are you today?

On the 24th June 1509, 512 years ago, Henry VIII was crowned King of England and Ireland, his reign lasted for 38 years. During this time Henry VIII had 6 wives, and 3 children.

Monarchs are often gifted rather extravagant items, the King of Norway once gifted Henry VIII a polar bear. He kept the bear in the Tower of London and the bear would often swim and catch fish in the Thames river.

What would you do if you were King or Queen for the day? Would you change the world? Or would you have a fun day doing as you please? Do you think you would like it?

What extravagant item would you gift to a King or Queen?

Have a lovely day

Wisdom Wednesday

Good morning everyone! How are you all?

Today I learned something interesting, something I did not know before this morning. This got me thinking about the saying ‘you learn something new everyday!’

Today I learned that, Queen Elizabeth II is a trained mechanic. When she was 16, she joined the British employment agency the Labour Exchange, where she learned the basics of vehicle repair. Including how to change a tyre and repair engines. Nowadays, she has others who can do these things for her, but isn’t it nice to know that if one of her cars broke down, she might be able to get it up and running herself!

I challenge you to learn something new today. Share what wonderful, interesting things you learn today with the rest of us.

Have a wonderful day

From the Year 6 team xx

National Careers Week

This week in the UK, it is national careers week! Now, I know you maybe too young to realise what you would like to do for your job when you are older, but I think it is important that we understand there are so many jobs that you could do!

During national careers week, it is imporant to talk to someone about the role that they do and what it involves.

I would like you to talk to someone in your house about their job. What do they do when they are in work? Do they enjoy it? Do they have good pay and benefits? And anything else you would like to know. If you can’t do this have a research online at a job that you think would be exciting to do.

If you do have an idea of what you would like to do when you are older let me know in the comments and why this job interests you.

Have a great day guys!
